Social Impact

The United Nations identifies adequate housing as a fundamental human right, defining it as “the right to live somewhere in security, peace and dignity.” (International Covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights.)

At MultiGreen, we believe in building sustainable living spaces that create communities that are safe and affordable for our tenants. Our properties enable:

– Environmental Sustainability: We ensure that our structures protect natural habitats, create a healthy environment, and promote energy efficiency.

– Economic Sustainability: We ensure that our properties contribute positive economic impact to their communities and co-exist with the natural environment.

– Social Sustainability:  We ensure that our residents have access to a healthy living environment, and basic health and human service resources.

“MultiGreen champions intentional impact by design.”

Imagine a community — one that enables residents to walk, bike or take public transportation to go to the places they most frequently need to go every day, such as work, schools, grocery stores, shopping malls, parks and other public spaces, entertainment and recreational areas, and fitness and health facilities.

We seek to create such communities.

While the benefits of a healthy, sustainable community may be intuitively obvious to us, it is also supported by a number of studies.  According to a Swedish study, lifestyles affects life expectancy more than genetics.  In fact, professor emeritus Lars Wilhelmsen — one of the authors of the study — says: “It is often assumed that people with parents who lived to be very old are more likely to live to a grand old age themselves. But that’s just not true —our study shows that hereditary factors don’t play a role and that lifestyle has the biggest impact.”

Home, housing and local environment have a direct impact on our well-being. Living in a high-quality home, experiencing few housing problems, and being surrounded by a pleasant local environment, contribute positively to life satisfaction. The local environment also has an indirect impact on well-being by affecting social exclusion and health.

MultiGreen’s communities are designed to contribute to our tenant’s quality of life and will be assessed for its impact outcomes.
